Kenny Jackett "surprised" by Wolverhampton Wanderers sale

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Kenny Jackett admits that he was shocked to hear that chairman Steve Morgan is selling up.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Kenny Jackett has admitted that he was "surprised" to learn that chairman Steve Morgan is selling the club.

The 62-year-old businessman announced plans to offload his share of the club and stepped down from its board of directors earlier this week after eight years at the helm.

Jackett said that he has always maintained an "excellent personal working relationship" with the chairman and had no prior inkling that he was planning to sell up.

"I was surprised, I didn't know it was coming. Obviously, we fully respect Steve Morgan's decision," the Express & Star quotes Jackett as saying.

"I'm not going to speak for him, and he has his own reasons, we understand that.

"But from my point of view I've had an excellent personal working relationship with him and I'm sure that'll continue. I respect Steve Morgan, the board of directors and whatever decisions they make."

Wolves were in Championship action on Tuesday evening, defeating Fulham 3-0 at Craven Cottage.
