Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Georg Margreitter misses out on Copenhagen move

Wantaway Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Georg Margreitter fails to secure a permanent move to Copenhagen.

Wantaway Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Georg Margreitter has failed to secure a permanent move to Copenhagen following a loan stint at the club.

The 25-year-old, who moved to Molineux from Austria Vienna in 2012, is said to have been willing to take a pay cut to join Copenhagen, but manager Stale Solbakken has opted against it.

"Georg had some good last months in Copenhagen – he played well although before that he was our number three central defender, but it is impossible for us to meet his demands," the Express & Star quotes Solbakken as saying.

"We have now signed another central defender, Pelle Nilsson from Nurnberg, so Georg will not be a Copenhagen player."

Wolves are said to be hopeful of offloading Margreitter, who is one of nine high-earners at the newly-promoted Championship club.
