Report: Wolverhampton Wanderers not giving up on Adama Traore

A report claims that Middlesbrough will make Wolverhampton Wanderers break their transfer record to sign £18m-rated winger Adama Traore.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly on the brink of breaking their transfer record to complete the signing of Adama Traore from Middlesbrough.

The Premier League side are understood to have been informed that it will take £18m to trigger Traore's buyout clause, having fallen short with a £12m offer earlier this week.

Rather than walk away from the table, The Telegraph reports that the former Spain Under-21s international remains a "priority target" for Nuno Espirito Santo, and Wanderers will therefore meet his valuation before Thursday's deadline.

Traore, who suffered an injury scare last week when partially dislocating his shoulder against Sunderland, scored five and assisted 10 more in 36 Championship outings last term.

Former club Aston Villa are expected to get a £3.6m payout when the deal goes through.
