Formula 1 is currently unable to regulate the increasing use of artificial intelligence by teams, says F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali.

As AI technology rapidly advances globally, top F1 teams have quickly adopted it to enhance their performance.

AI and machine learning are now integral in designing cars, developing race strategies, and analyzing the vast amounts of data collected from on-track sensors.

According to Ferrari's machine learning engineer, Luca Bortolotti, teams even use AI to scrutinize onboard footage of rival cars.

"If our competitor does the same corner at the same speed on the same line with slightly less of a steering angle, that tells us they probably have a more aggressive balance than us," he explained.

Corriere dello Sport asked Domenicali if F1 should regulate AI to prevent teams already using it from gaining a significant advantage.

"We already use artificial intelligence in our graphics, and the FIA uses it in active and passive safety systems," Domenicali responded.

"Now we have promised to understand how much it can influence performance, because we still don't know enough to intervene," he added.
