On Wednesday, Aston Martin is poised to reveal the future plans of Enrico Cardile.

Ferrari has now made it official that their technical director and long-time employee has resigned with immediate effect, following a series of contradictory speculations.

Just a few days prior, as murmurs of Aston Martin's interest in securing the seasoned Ferrari figure grew, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Cardile was not leaving after all.

"Ferrari's technical director is at the forefront of the design of the 2025 single-seater, a picture that contradicts rumours of his imminent departure," journalist Paolo Filisetti reported from Silverstone only three days ago.

Speculation about significant changes in technical roles among Formula 1 teams has intensified recently, with whispers regarding Cardile and multiple other key engineers up and down pitlane arising alongside that of Adrian Newey's situation at Red Bull.

"Newey's decision about his future will also influence the moves of others in a sort of cascade effect," noted Filisetti.

On Tuesday, Ferrari acknowledged that Cardile has "handed in his notice," with the team's principal, Frederic Vasseur, taking over his responsibilities in the chassis division "as an interim measure."

Jacopo Moretti, another journalist from La Gazzetta dello Sport, has suggested that Loic Serra, who recently departed Mercedes, will fill the vacancy at Ferrari starting October 1.

Regarding Cardile's next chapter, La Repubblica boldly stated on Tuesday: "He will go to Aston Martin, who should announce it as early as Wednesday."
