Haas is entering new territory in 2025, with team boss Ayao Komatsu revealing that, for the first time in the team's history, it will reach Formula 1's budget cap.
The American outfit, traditionally operating on a smaller budget compared to the other teams, has never been in danger of hitting F1's financial ceiling. However, thanks to increased sponsorship, higher official F1 revenue, and Toyota's new involvement, Haas is now facing a new kind of challenge.
"This year will be the first time that Gene (Haas) does not have to invest his own money," Komatsu revealed. "We had not reached the budget limit, but this year we are reaching it.
"So we have a new challenge to face – making sure we stay within the limit," he added with a smile.
Haas remains the smallest team on the grid in terms of personnel, with just 330 staff compared to the 1,000-plus employed by top teams like Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes.
Despite the increased funding, Komatsu insists that Haas will continue with its established approach, including its reliance on Ferrari for key components.
"Some things are just obvious," he said. "It is much better to keep buying components from Ferrari. We still rely on Maranello and also on external manufacturing and other things.
"We are making more developments this year, so we have to be even more efficient."
