Maria de Villota leaves hospital after crash

Maria de Villota leaves hospital after losing her right eye and suffering several serious injuries in a crash earlier this month.

Maria de Villota has left hospital, 23 days after she lost her right eye and suffered several serious injuries in a testing accident.

The 32-year-old Marussia test driver suffered injuries initially thought to be life-threatening in a crash at Duxfield Airfield.

However, after being transferred from the England to a Madrid hospital less than a week ago, she has now been released to continue her recovery from home.

A statement on De Villota's website read: "The patient's general conditions are good, which is why we were able to release her."

De Vittola is the daughter of former Formula 1 driver Emilio.
