McLaren to debut Honda engine at Silverstone

McLaren are to debut their new Honda engine during a filming day at Silverstone on Friday.

McLaren have announced that their new Honda engine will make its debut at Silverstone during a filming event on Friday.

The team will end its affiliation with Mercedes after a 20-year partnership, as they are set to be reunited with the Japanese manufacturers ahead of next season.

McLaren announced the debut run, which according to Sky Sports News will be limited to 100km of the Silverstone track, on their Twitter page.

Neither Jenson Button nor Kevin Magnussen will be driving the new interim car with speculation still looming on who will be representing McLaren next season.

Fernando Alonso is said to have been in talks with McLaren and is expected to leave Ferrari at the end of the season.
