Sebastian Vettel: 'Jenson Button would be a loss to Formula 1'

Sebastian Vettel claims that Jenson Button would be a loss to Formula 1 if he retires.

Sebastian Vettel has suggested that it would be a loss to Formula 1 should Jenson Button retire from the sport.

The 2009 world champion's future in grand prix racing is in doubt, with several reports claiming that the Briton will quit McLaren at the end of this year.

However, Vettel is adamant that F1 would be poorer for Button's absence.

He told reporters: "It would be a loss for sure if he went. He's a big character. We know he is quick, he deserved to be a champion.

"If there were more years where [Button] had the chance to win the big one he would have had a big say."

Button has reportedly been lined up by Porsche to race in the World Endurance Championship from 2016, but new Top Gear host Chris Evans has also hinted that the ex-Williams and Benetton driver will join the new-look motoring show.
