Helmut Marko says that FIA's ruling on holes in the floor haven't had an impact on Red Bull's preparation for the Canadian Grand Prix.

Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has played down the effect of the FIA's new ruling and claimed that they were always going to run with a revised floor at the Canadian Grand Prix anyway.

The FIA had ruled that the holes in the floor of Red Bull's RB8 must be removed before next weekend's Canadian race. Red Bull team principal Christian Horner had earlier stated that he believed that the modification would have been legal, although a statement from the FIA deemed otherwise.

Marko insists that the FIA's judgement won't have affected the team going into the next race.

"We are not disturbed in our race preparation by this decision," Marko told Autosport.

"We had not planned to use this floor in Montreal anyway.

"We had prepared a different configuration using a flat version of the floor. Therefore we do not need to modify the cars in Canada."

Red Bull had been running with the RB8 in that specification since the Bahrain Grand Prix, winning two out of three Grands Prix in that subsequent period.
