The FIA has announced that it will be reviewing the application process for Formula 1 superlicences.
All drivers are required to have a superlicence to compete in Formula 1, but the regulations have been questioned following Toro Rosso's decision to hand 16-year-old Max Verstappen a seat for next season.
"A mandate has been given to the FIA Administration to review the qualification and conditions for the issuing of a super licence, in consultation with all parties concerned," the FIA statement read.
"A proposal will be put forward for WMSC approval in December for implementation in 2016."
Dutch teenager Verstappen, who will become F1's youngest ever driver, has only raced for one season in the European F3 Championship, a series which does not qualify a driver for a superlicence directly.
