Susie Wolff to reach Formula 1 milestone by taking part in Grand Prix weekend

Williams development driver Susie Wolff will become the first woman driver in 22 years to take part in a race weekend in the Formula 1 calendar this season.

Williams Formula 1 team have announced that development driver Susie Wolff will take part in a Grand Prix weekend this season.

The 31-year-old will become the first woman driver in 22 years to be on the track after the team confirmed that Wolff will be in two free practice sessions later this year.

According to BBC Sport, Wolff said: "I'm grateful for the support and belief Williams continue to show in me and 2014 promises to be a very important milestone in my career."

Wolff will remain the team's development driver.
