Felipe Massa happy with Sochi performance

Felipe Massa has said that Williams enjoyed a good day's running during practice in Sochi and have a car that could perform well during the Russian Grand Prix.

Felipe Massa has claimed that he is happy with the overall performance in the two Friday practice sessions ahead of Sunday's Russian Grand Prix.

The Brazilian could only manage 11th in FP1 before finishing seventh fastest in the afternoon, and Massa has even suggested that the track's characteristics could suit his Williams car.

He told reporters: "The first day is always about understanding each corner and finding out what lines you need to take and where you can push the car. My first impression is that the car seems to be performing well around here and I like the track layout.

"The track surface was very slippery this morning but the track improved a lot over the day and we will see it getting better as the weekend progresses. I'm pretty happy with the car's balance and it's performing consistently so overall I'm happy with our days running."

Massa made headlines last weekend for his scathing criticism of the decision to continue with the Japanese Grand Prix in poor weather conditions before Jules Bianchi's heavy crash, which left the Frenchman needing surgery for a severe head injury.
