Luke Donald is backing a plan to create more European Tour events in England.
This week's BMW Championship at Wentworth is the only tournament to be held on English soil this year and the world number two believes that more should be done to "cultivate interest" in his home country.
Donald said that, with two Englishmen in the top three in the rankings, now is the time to promote the game to youngsters.
"This is a great opportunity when you look at the world rankings at the moment," said Donald. "This is the time to cultivate more interest. We've got great golfing ambassadors and need another event in England that can inspire the younger generation.
"We're about to lose TV viewers whose parents don't have Sky, with the BBC dropping out from golf, so we need more events in England full stop. I'd be happy to lend my name and time and help promote golf more in England."
The plan is also receiving the backing of countrymen Lee Westwood, Justin Rose and Paul Casey.
