Emiliano Grillo ends an eight-year wait to win his second PGA Tour title by emerging victorious at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

Emiliano Grillo has won the Charles Schwab Challenge via a playoff, ending his eight-year wait to secure another PGA Tour title.

While the Argentine has recently posted two top-10s, he had not prevailed in eight years before his appearance in Texas this week.

Although Grillo could only muster a round of 72 on Saturday, he responded with a final-round 68 to take advantage of England's Harry Hall giving up his place at the top of the leaderboard.

In regular play, Grillo had the opportunity to sit clear in first place, only to produce a double-bogey on the last to bring other players into contention.

Adam Schenk, in sharp contrast, played the final five holes in one-under-par to book his spot in a playoff, and the pair each posted pars at the first extra hole.

However, Grillo claimed the win on the second, hitting his tee shot at the par-three 16th to just under five feet and successfully holing out after Schenk had failed to hole his chip.

World number one Scottie Scheffler and Hall finished a shot adrift of the top two, Scheffler failing to birdie any of his final eight holes and Hall bogeying the last.

Paul Haley II was a notable fifth, while Sam Burns and Rickie Fowler were among the players who secured a share of sixth.

The English duo of Justin Rose and Aaron Rai were in a tie for 12th having produced rounds of 70 and 71 respectively.
