Denmark's Thomas Bjorn ended the day one shot behind Kingston, along with England's Simon Khan, Wales's Rhys Davies and two others.
Elsewhere, Ross Fisher kept himself in the hunt with a six-under 66, followed by Germany's Martin Kaymer and Italy's Francesco Molinari one shot further back.
