Graeme McDowell has revealed that the European team received the "hairdryer treatment" from captain Jose Maria Olazabal on Friday before they rallied back to win the Ryder Cup.
The USA took a 10-6 lead after the opening two days at the Medinah Country Club in Illinois, but Europe staged a remarkable comeback to retain the famous trophy.
"On Friday we were down and got the hairdryer treatment from Jose," McDowell told BBC Sport. "We had a sense of belief on Saturday. I don't know what it was.
"Jose has just been an emotional leader. He inspired and he got things right today. We dug deep and we really wanted to win it."
McDowell won one out of a possible four points across the weekend.
