Rory McIlroy four shots clear at Omega Dubai Desert Classic

A third-round score of 66 leaves world number one Rory McIlroy on the brink of winning the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.

Rory McIlroy will take a four-shot lead into the final round of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic after shooting 66 on Saturday.

The world number one, who also won this event in 2009, hit five birdies during a faultless round to lead from Morten Orum Madsen.

The Dane has recovered from a slow start to the event to register rounds of 63 and 66 respectively to move himself into contention ahead of the final 18 holes.

Lee Westwood has moved into third place, despite recording his worst score of the week, while the quartet of Danny Willett, Stephen Gallacher, Andy Sullivan and Bernd Wiesberger all sit a shot further adrift.

Graeme McDowell is now eight shots off the pace after dropping three shots in his final 12 holes, while world number two Henrik Stenson is in a tie for 19th position.
