Great Britain's women defeat Spain in first match of World League semi-finals

Great Britain's women's team record a 2-0 victory over Spain in their opening match of the World League semi-finals.

Great Britain's women's team have edged a step nearer to qualifying for next year's Olympic Games with victory over Spain in the World League semi-finals.

Danny Kerry's side are looking to finish in the top four of their five-team pool to advance through to the last eight, before the remaining nations face off to decide the three teams who will make the plane for Rio de Janeiro.

Alex Danson and Joie Leigh got the goals in a 2-0 win for Great Britain, who are keen to secure a high seeding for the knockout phase to avoid the stronger teams in the quarter-finals.

Team GB return to action on Saturday when they face Argentina, before they take on Canada and China.
