England seemed to be coasting to victory as they led 11-0 after three of 18 ends.
After 10 ends, the lead had extended to 20-1 and although the Australian team of Lynsey Clarke, Karen Murphy and Kelsey Cottrell clawed back three more points, England won 22-4.
The match came came to a premature end after Australia conceded to the 'mercy' rule.
Meanwhile, Wales lost 23-14 to South Africa in the bronze-medal match.
