England netball coach Anna Mayes has revealed that she is delighted after her side kicked off their Commonwealth Games by thumping Wales 65-25 at the SECC.
Team England boasted a 29-10 half-time lead, before Mayes's side ultimately ran out winners by a 40-point margin in their Pool B opener.
"I'm delighted with the start. The first game always sets the tone for the tournament and I was really pleased," she told reporters.
"We've been waiting for this day to come for so long that sometimes the excitement and adrenaline can get a bit heavy.
"We had a good start and demonstrated patience in attack and I feel like everyone had a great impact."
England face Australia, who denied them a shot at the gold medal in Delhi four years ago, tomorrow afternoon.
