Barcelona's Josep Maria Bartomeu 'faces tax fraud charges relating to Neymar'

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu is reportedly facing charges of tax fraud in relation to the 2013 transfer of Neymar from Santos.

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu is reportedly facing charges of tax fraud in relation to the signing of Neymar back in 2013.

The Spanish giants secured the Brazilian's signature from Santos, but it has been alleged by prosecutors that the overall fee was €94.8m (£71.4m), which is significantly higher than the €57.1m (£43m) stated by Barcelona.

According to Spanish newspapers Marca and AS, Bartomeu, who along with former president Sandro Rosell has been accused of fraudulent activity, could be charged with tax fraud for €2.8m (£2.2m).

Bartomeu is due to stand in court later this year in relation to the allegations.
