High Court dismisses Bolton Wanderers winding-up petition after debt paid off

Bolton Wanderers' HMRC winding-up petition is dismissed by the High Court in London after the club's debt was paid off in full.

The HMRC winding-up petition against Championship strugglers Bolton Wanderers has been dismissed by the High Court after the club's debt was paid off in full.

Inland Revenue officials wanted the Trotters wound up after complaining that the Lancashire side owed more than £2m.

However, the High Court in London today dismissed the petition after hearing that the debt had been paid off by the club's new owners, Sport Shield.

Rockbottom Bolton are 12 points from safety in the Championship and on the verge of dropping down to the third tier of English football for the first time in 23 years.
