Seven-time F1 world champion Michael Schumacher reportedly suffers a serious head injury while skiing in France.

Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher has reportedly suffered a serious head injury while skiing in France.

According to Europe 1, the 44-year-old suffered the accidental injury on Sunday morning at the resort of Meribel in the French Alps.

German Schumacher, who was said to be alone when he fell, was airlifted straight to hospital in Grenoble for treatment. The severity of the injury is not yet known.

Formerly of Jordan, Benetton, Ferrari and Mercedes, Schumacher won the F1 world title in 1994 and 1995 and then five years in a row between 2000-2004.
