Galatasaray striker Didier Drogba has insisted that he has no regrets over paying tribute to the late Nelson Mandela, despite potential punishment by the Turkish Football Association.
Drogba wore a top emblazoning the words 'Thank you Madiba' underneath his shirt in tribute to the former South African president, who died at the age of 95 last week.
Reports have emerged claiming that the Turkish FA could punish Drogba and Emmanuel Eboue as neither asked permission to display their messages to the anti-apartheid hero.
Droga wrote on Instagram: "I'd be very interested to see your comments on this...but I'm sorry if I had to I would do it again and again.
"Nor because of political beliefs but because this man inspired me,a country, a continent, the world!!!!! Thanks again Madiba."
Tributes to Mandela were paid before football matches in the Premier League over the course of the weekend with a minute's applause.
