Pyeongchang organisers "confident" ahead of 2018 Games

Pyeongchang Olympic organising committee member Lee Byung-Nam says that preparations for the 2018 Winter Olympics will be made "fairly smoothly".

The organising committee behind the 2018 Winter Olympics are confident that preparations will be made smoothly over the coming years.

South Korean city Pyeongchang will host the next Games in four years' time, with interest already starting to build.

"Asia has a great potential to become a huge market for winter sports," committee member Lee Byung-Nam is quoted as saying by Business Recorder. "In that sense I believe Pyeongchang will offer a window of opportunity for Asia.

"I'm confident that we will be able to make our preparations fairly smoothly over the next four years. There were some difficulties in telecommunication services, and we will definitely improve this in Pyeongchang."

The closing ceremony of the Sochi Games takes place later today.
