Tesco pokes fun at Brendan Rodgers's Southampton pursuit on Twitter

Tesco's Twitter account mocks Brendan Rodgers's pursuit of Southampton's players.

Supermarket Tesco decided to launch a dig at Liverpool on Twitter by mocking manager Brendan Rodgers's pursuit of numerous Southampton players.

The Merseyside outfit acquired the signatures of Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Dejan Lovren last year.

This summer, they have been linked with a swoop for Saints full-back Nathaniel Clyne, who has also reportedly been tracked by Manchester United.

On Twitter, parody account @DeludedBrendan asked Tesco: "Got any deals on? I have a budget of £0 and preferably I'd like the product to be English and show great character."

The worker monitoring the supermarket's social media account responded: "Hmm, I'm not sure mate. Would you like me to check our stores in Southampton? - Mike."
