Real Madrid injury, suspension news vs. Valencia: What's the latest on David Alaba's recovery?

Sports Mole looks at Real Madrid's injury and suspension news ahead of Friday's La Liga clash with Valencia at Mestalla.

Real Madrid will kick off 2025 with a trip to Mestalla for Friday's La Liga meeting with relegation-threatened Valencia.

Los Blancos will carry momentum into the new year after winning four of their previous five competitive matches, including a 4-2 home win over Sevilla, courtesy of goals from Kylian Mbappe, Federico Valverde, Rodrygo and Brahim Diaz.

Having collected 40 points from 18 matches, Real Madrid are sitting in second place in La Liga and two points above Barcelona with a game in hand, while they are one point adrift of leaders Atletico Madrid, knowing that they have the chance to leapfrog their city rivals with a positive result on Friday.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's injury and suspension news ahead of their clash with Valencia, who are languishing in 19th place with just 12 points to their name.

David Alaba

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: January 19 (vs. Las Palmas)

Alaba has spent over a year on the sidelines after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in December 2023. The 32-year-old is now taking part in some aspects of team training as he steps up his recovery process. Real Madrid are reportedly hoping that Alaba will return to the first-team squad for the home league game against Las Palmas on January 19.

Eder Militao

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Militao will miss the rest of the 2024-25 campaign after suffering an ACL injury against Osasuna in November. The Brazilian finds himself in a familiar situation after sustaining the same injury in his opposite knee at the beginning of the 2023-24 season.

Dani Carvajal

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Like Militao, Carvajal is not expected to play again this season due to a damaged ACL. The Spain international picked up the serious injury in the closing stages of October's home clash against Villarreal.

REAL MADRID'S SUSPENSION LIST

Real Madrid have no suspensions for their first outing of the new year.
