Lassana Diarra ordered to pay former club Lokomotiv Moscow £6.8m

France international Lassana Diarra is ordered to pay former club Lokomotiv Moscow £6.8m for breaching his contract.

France international Lassana Diarra has been ordered to pay former club Lokomotiv Moscow £6.8m by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The 31-year-old quit the Russian outfit in 2014 having suffered a pay cut, just one year after joining the club.

CAS have deemed that Diarra was in breach of his contract, and having already served a 15-month ban and salary suspension, he has now been ordered to pay a further €10m to his former employers.

"I take note today of notification from CAS of the punishment concerning me," the midfielder wrote on Twitter.

"It boils down to 15 months match suspension (already served), 15 months salary suspension (already served), 110,000 euros for the benefit of CAS, 10 million euro fine.

"I will accept the situation as I have always done in the past. I thank those who supported me during this difficult time and as I said it's something I wouldn't wish on any other player."

Diarra, who is now contracted to Marseille, has been included in Didier Deschamps's France squad for Euro 2016.
