A report has claimed that Raheem Sterling was racially abused and physically assaulted at Manchester City's training ground on Saturday morning.

According to The Telegraph, the England forward was kicked and called a "n***er" by a man who appeared to be waiting for the 23-year-old at the players' entrance at City's football academy training base.

The report claims that Sterling had pulled into the entrance in his car as he arrived for City's pre-match preparations and was confronted by the man hurling a barrage of abuse at him.

Sterling is then believed to have asked the individual if he had a problem, only to be kicked in the leg several times.

The incident was reportedly caught on CCTV but it is not known whether officials at City have filed a report with Greater Manchester Police.

Sterling did not suffer any injuries and went on to score a brace in City's 4-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur later in the day.
