Louis van Gaal installs exercise bikes in players' hotel rooms

Louis van Gaal installs exercise bikes in the Lowry Hotel so that Manchester United players can begin their warm-up for home games before even arriving at Old Trafford.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has prompted his players to start their warm-ups before getting to Old Trafford by installing exercise bikes in the players' hotel rooms.

The move is the latest in a long line of changes that Van Gaal has made since arriving at the club this summer, including spending £500,000 on CCTV cameras at their Carrington training ground, where he has also replaced the grass pitches with semi-synthetic ones.

According to The Mirror, 22 exercise bikes have been delivered to the players' rooms at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester, where the team spend the night before each home game.

The matchday squad have been told to begin their preparations for each home game on the bike before leaving for the stadium.

A source told the newspaper: "Some of the players were gobsmacked that the manager would go to those lengths to ensure the preparation he wanted for the Swansea game. His attention to detail is unbelievable."

Van Gaal is still winless after four games in charge of the Red Devils.
