Eleven Sports is reportedly working on a deal to bring a new channel showing La Liga games to Sky customers.

Eleven Sports has revealed that it is working to secure a "carriage agreement" to broadcast La Liga through Sky in the UK.

Earlier this year it was announced that Sky Sports had lost the broadcast rights for Spain's top flight to Eleven Sports, a streaming service that operates in the US.

According to the Daily Mail, Eleven is currently working on plans to launch a new TV channel in time for the new season and is in active discussions with Sky about an agreement that would make the channel available to existing Sky customers without an additional fee.

The broadcaster is also in discussions with BT, Virgin Media and Amazon about similar agreements, while the channel is also expected to be available as a standalone online subscription service.

"Eleven Sports is committed to being a major new player in the UK. For us it's all about the fan," CEO Marc Watson told the newspaper. "We live and breathe football and we're going to build a service that's essential viewing for football fans across the country.

"We think audiences are going to love our fresh approach to programming. We'll have much more to talk about as the new season approaches."

Eleven are expected to announce deals for the broadcast rights to additional competitions in the near future.
