Delory Facey 'acted as middleman in match-fixing scam'

Former Premier League footballer Delroy Facey allegedly acted as a middleman for two men convicted of match-fixing, a court hears.

Former Premier League footballer Delroy Facey is alleged to have acted as a middleman for two men involved in a match-fixing scam.

The 34-year-old and former non-League player Moses Swaibu began their trial at Birmingham Crown Court today.

The court heard that Facey worked with Chann Sankaran and Krishna Ganeshan, both of whom were convicted of conspiracy to commit bribery.

According to Sky Sports News, prosecutor Nick Mather told jurors: "[Football is] described sometimes as the beautiful game but football has an ugly side to it as well, and it's that ugly side we are going to be looking at."

Facey denies conspiracy to commit bribery.
