Lincoln City boss Gary Simpson: 'I reported match-fixing game to FA'

Gary Simpson reveals that he reported a game he took charge of to the FA for alleged match-fixing.

Lincoln City manager Gary Simpson has revealed that he reported a game earlier in his managerial career to the Football Association for suspected match-fixing.

Simpson said that the game, before he was manager at Lincoln, saw two penalties against his side as well as a red card for his team.

"I was involved in a game, I don't want to say where it was, but there were two penalties given against us," he told the Lincolnshire Echo. "I was told there had been an irregular betting pattern on it during the game and before the game.

"I flagged that up. We heard from the authorities that it was correct and there had been an irregular betting pattern in the game. We lost the game and we ended up having a player sent off. To this day it's the only game I have been involved in where I have thought there was something wrong. This was not while I was at Lincoln City."

Six people have been arrested on suspicion of match-fixing, it was revealed last night.
