Oscar Pistorius's family say that they are 'relieved but still mourning' the death of Reeva Steenkamp following the court's decision to grant bail to the Paralympic athlete.

Oscar Pistorius's family have expressed their 'relief' at magistrate Desmond Nair's decision to grant the Paralympic champion bail pending a trial for the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

The 26-year-old, who has been charged with the premeditated fatal shooting of the 29-year-old model at his home in South Africa, received the news of bail on the fourth day of a hearing at Pretoria Magistrates' Court.

The double amputee's uncle Arnold addressed the media by saying: "Yes, we are relieved that Oscar got bail but at the same time we are in mourning for the death of Reeva with her family.

"As a family we know Oscar's version of what happened that tragic night and we know that is the truth and that will prevail."

Pistorius will return to court on June 4, when a trial date is expected to be set.
