Paula Radcliffe admits that she wouldn't risk having her family attend the London Marathon if she were racing following the Boston bombings.

Three-time London Marathon winner Paula Radcliffe has revealed that she would be too concerned to have her family at Sunday's event following the Boston Marathon bombings.

Security at the famous event will be reviewed after three people were left dead and over 100 injured following two explosions near the end of the Marathon in Boston on Monday.

"I have every confidence in the London Marathon community and the Metropolitan Police that they won't let it go ahead unless they have done everything possible," the Daily Mail quotes Radcliffe as saying.

"But it's still 26 miles. It's going to be hard. It's going to rely on people being vigilant and aware of what is going on around them. As a mother I'd think more about having family at the finish area.

"You put yourself there at your own risk but putting family in that situation is something people are going to have to come to terms with and conquer."

The 39-year-old will be commentating on the race this weekend for the BBC.
