Olympic gymnast Louis Smith has joked that he could have played a part in the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge deciding to name their baby son George Alexander Louis.
The 24-year-old has admitted that he feels "proud" to share part of his name with the son of Prince William and Kate, who watched the gymnast during the London 2012 Games.
"Everyone keeps messaging me about Prince George," Smith told the Daily Star. "I am proud and quite pleased he has my name in there. Someone said ages ago my name was in the shortlist. It's cool.
"I know Kate came and watched me at the Olympics. Perhaps I was the inspiration, you never know.
"There was an article in the paper after the birth about 10 famous people called Louis and I made a little bit in there. That's all right, isn't it?"
Smith won a bronze and silver medal during the Games last summer.
