Tennis pro Caroline Wozniacki insists that she had no part in making Rory McIlroy late for his tee time on Europe's Ryder-Cup winning day on Sunday.

Former tennis world number one Caroline Wozniacki has insisted that she is not to blame for her boyfriend Rory McIlroy turning up late to Medinah on the final day of the Ryder Cup.

The Northern Irishman almost missed his tee time of 11.25am against the USA's Keegan Bradley on Sunday after getting confused by the time zones.

"I think he mistimed the tee time," said Wozniacki. "He thought he was going to play 12.25pm, and, well, as we all know it was 11.25am. So it wasn't my fault!

"It's tough [to keep in touch] with the time changes obviously because when one is awake the other is sleeping or when one is doing something or the other one is playing. But, you know, we try to catch up as much as we can."

Meanwhile, the American police officer who helped McIlroy get to Medinah in time has spoken about the mad dash, which eventually helped Europe clinch the Ryder Cup trophy.
