Sky Sports to launch 'Ryder Cup channel'

Sky Sports announce that they will dedicate an entire channel to broadcasting the Ryder Cup this autumn.

Sky Sports has announced that it will celebrate its coverage of a 10th consecutive Ryder Cup by dedicating an entire channel to the event this autumn.

For two weeks, Sky Sports 4 will become 'Sky Sports Ryder Cup' and broadcast over 330 hours of golf, including exclusive coverage of Europe's battle with the USA at Gleneagles.

The channel will follow a similar pattern to last summer's 'Sky Sports Ashes', which showed England's series against Australia, and will launch at 6am on Thursday 18 September and continue until 6am on Thursday, October 2.

Barney Francis, managing director of Sky Sports, said: "We're dedicating a whole channel to the biggest event in golf, providing viewers with the complete Ryder Cup experience all in one place.

"There will be nowhere better for sports fans to enjoy the passion, drama and excitement of this incredible event. We'll offer round-the-clock build-up, the opening and closing ceremonies and exclusive live coverage of all three days from Gleneagles.

"We're incredibly proud of our partnership with golf and its fitting we mark our tenth Ryder Cup on Sky Sports with an entire channel. We can't wait."

Europe are the current holders of the Ryder Cup after dramatically retaining the trophy at Medinah in 2012.
