Sheffield United striker Marlon King has denied dangerous driving after a three-car crash on his birthday in April that left another motorist with a fractured elbow.

The 33-year-old is alleged to have committed the offence while driving a Porsche Panamera on the A46 in Nottinghamshire.

King made a brief appearance at Nottingham Crown Court today to confirm his not guilty plea. He will now stand trial in March after being granted bail.

King wanted the trial to take place after the football season had finished but Judge Jonathan Teare QC rejected the request, telling King's lawyer: "I don't wish to have any impact on either your client or his team but I also don't wish to have any adverse impact on the witnesses."

Since joining the Blades in September, King has scored one goal in nine appearances for the League One side.
