Six-time Paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius has been denied early release from prison by South Africa's justice minister.
The 28-year-old was expected to be released from Kgosi Mampuru II prison on Friday and transferred to house arrest.
It was thought that the double amputee would be taken to his uncle's three-storey home in Pretoria, but it could now be months before the parole board reviews the decision, according to BBC News.
Pistorius is serving a five-year sentence for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, whom he shot dead through a toilet door at his home in the early hours of Valentine's Day in 2013.
After deciding against granting early release, justice minister Michael Masutha said that Pistorius has not served enough of his sentence behind bars.
A statement read: "One sixth of a five year sentence is 10 months and at the time the decision was made Mr Pistorius had served only over six months of his sentence."
Pistorius was found guilty of manslaughter rather than murder after he claimed that he fired his gun because he mistook Steenkamp for an intruder.
