A report claims that Tottenham Hotspur will consider using Wembley Stadium for all of their home games in the first half of the 2018-19 campaign.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made a secret payment to the Football Association that will allow them to play home matches at Wembley Stadium for the remainder of the year.

The Lilywhites are scheduled to move into their new 61,000-capacity ground in time for the September 15 clash against Liverpool.

According to The Sun, though, construction on the £1bn venue is taking longer than planned and there are fears that Spurs will be forced to play their home games at Wembley, as they did throughout the 2017-18 season.

Special dispensation was given for Tottenham to host Fulham at the national stadium next weekend, giving them further time to get the 'Tottenham Hotspur Stadium' ready, and the report suggests that plans are now in place to continue using it until early 2019.

An FA official is quoted by the publication as saying: "Spurs have taken up the option to come to Wembley for a number of Premier League home games and the home games in the group stage of the Champions League.

"However, it is still their intention to play their home games at White Hart Lane after the Fulham game."

UEFA is also rumoured to have been informed about the construction delay, with Spurs due to play three Champions League group games at home before Christmas.
