Convicted sex offender Adam Johnson to be removed from 'FIFA 16' video game

EA Sports confirms that disgraced footballer Adam Johnson will be removed from video game FIFA 16.

Former Sunderland winger Adam Johnson will be wiped from video game FIFA 16, creator EA Sports has confirmed.

The 28-year-old was found guilty of sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl on Wednesday.

Johnson was sacked by the Black Cats last month after admitting to kissing and grooming the girl.

After the jury delivered its verdicts on Wednesday at Bradford Crown Court, the judge told Johnson that a jail term was "almost inevitable".

Following the conviction, customers got in touch with EA Sports to request that Johnson be removed from the game, which is popular with children.

A statement from the company read: "Adam Johnson has been removed from the active rosters of both Sunderland and England in FIFA 16. We're working to remove him from other modes within the game as soon as possible."

Reports have claimed that Johnson could be sent to HM Prison Frankland in Durham, where notorious child killers Ian Huntley and Levi Bellfield are housed.
