Andy Murray has played down talks of receiving a knighthood.
The Scot became the first Brit to win a Grand Slam since Fred Perry 76 years ago after beating Novak Djokovic in an epic five-set match to win the US Open.
Much has been made of Murray's triumph with some even suggesting that he deserves a knighthood for achieving the accolade, but the 25-year-old has said that it should take a lot more than just one Grand Slam win to achieve such a status.
Asked about the prospect of a knighthood, Murray said: "A lot of my friends have been messaging me about it and I don't really know what to say.
"I think it should take more than one or two good tournaments to deserve something like that. It would probably be a bit rash."
Murray also won a gold medal at the London Olympic Games earlier this summer.
