Bath ease past Montepellier

Bath claim their first win of the European Rugby Champions Cup campaign with a comfortable 30-5 win over Montpellier.

Bath Rugby have cruised to a comfortable 30-5 win over Montpellier to pick up their first win in the inaugural European Rugby Champions Cup this evening.

George Ford opened the scoring inside the opening 10 minutes for the visitors with a drop goal, before the fly-half added a pair of penalties.

Thibault Privat and Antoine Battut both had spells in the sin bin in the first half, allowing Henry Thomas to ease his way over, before the referee awarded a penalty try for an infringement in the scrum.

Bath increased their lead further after the break when Leroy Houston powered over to end any hope of a Montpellier comeback, although Alex Tulou added a consolation try late on.

The result moves Bath off the bottom of Pool Four at the expense of the French club three matches into the campaign.
