Bath clinch win over London Irish

Bath remain second in the Aviva Premiership following a 33-23 win over London Irish at the Madejski Stadium.

Bath have wrapped up a 33-23 win over London Irish in the Aviva Premiership this afternoon to stay level on points with the league leaders.

Fly-half Gavin Henson kicked three penalties in the opening 30 minutes to open up an advantage for the visitors at the Madejski Stadium.

Bath continued to apply the pressure as half time approached, and a mistake in the scrum by the Exiles resulted in the referee awarding the visitors a penalty try.

Henry Thomas had a try from open play at the start of the second half as Bath increased their advantage, while Chris Cook appeared to put the result beyond doubt later in the half.

David Paice and James Short tried to give the hosts some late hope, but it was too late for them to complete a comeback.

The result leaves Bath second in the table, while Irish sit 11th.
