Tom Homer kicks Bath to Aviva Premiership victory over Sale Sharks

Tom Homer scores 12 points to give Bath victory over Sale Sharks in the Aviva Premiership.

Bath have defeated Sale Sharks 12-3 in the Aviva Premiership.

Tom Homer scored all 12 points, and Danny Cipriani scored a penalty for Sale in a try-less affair at the Recreation Ground.

After a scrappy start to the match, Bath won the first penalty of the night in the 12th minute. However, Tom Homer failed to direct the ball through the posts.

Homer made no mistake four minutes later though, splitting the posts to open the scoring.

Bath captain Stuart Hooper gave away a penalty in the 25th minute, but Danny Cipriani slipped during his run-up and skewed the ball well wide of the posts.

Sale doubled their lead on the half-hour mark as Homer scored his second penalty of the night following an infringement at the scrum.

Cipriani did much better with his second penalty attempt, scoring from long range. Bath failed to add another three points just before half time.

Sale started the second half poorly and gave away another penalty to put Bath six points ahead.

It was not the most accurate evening for Homer, as he missed another penalty in the 60th minute.

A successful Bath scrum forced Sale to give away another penalty, and Homer scored his 12th point.

The result means Bath move up to fifth in the Aviva Premiership table, while Sale remain in seventh.
