British and Irish Lions lock Paul O'Connell has been officially ruled out of the Test series in Australia with a fractured right arm.
O'Connell suffered the injury during Saturday's 23-21 victory over the Wallabies, with the Irishman playing through the pain barrier to help the Lions earn a narrow victory in Brisbane.
An official spokesman for the Lions confirmed today that the 32-year-old will take no further part in the tour, with Geoff Parling in line to fight for his place in the Test XV.
A message from the official Lions Twitter account announced the injury news today, stating: "Paul O'Connell ruled out of Test series with undisplaced fracture of lower rigt arm."
