Will Greenwood: 'Samoa is a must-win game'

World Cup-winning centre Will Greenwood describes England's match with Samoa at Twickenham as "must-win" as they look to end a run of five straight Test defeats.

Former England centre Will Greenwood has described the match with Samoa on Saturday as "must-win".

Stuart Lancaster's side are on a run of five consecutive Test defeats, with the last two coming to New Zealand and South Africa at Twickenham this month.

Greenwood, who was part of the 2003 World Cup-winning team, feels that England need to run out victors to halt their alarming dip in form and regain some confidence ahead of bigger challenges.

"Yes this is a must-win against Samoa," Greenwood told Sky Sports News. "Whenever you look to play against sides who are ranked below you in the world and you are at home – then you would expect to win.

"I think there is a bit of panic; mild alarm within the camp in terms of those five straight losses but more importantly those two defeats at home. In both games they had opportunity to perform better.

"England will want to put the brakes on this run of defeats and in reality and they really need to get that confidence and rhythm back into the side ahead of their match against Australia next week."

Lancaster has made five changes to the side which lost to the Springboks, with George Ford, Rob Webber, James Haskell, Ben Morgan and Ben Youngs brought in, and Owen Farrell shifted to number 12.
