Chris Robshaw says that he is still hopeful of receiving a late call-up to the British and Irish Lions squad.

England captain Chris Robshaw has revealed that he is planning to keep himself in shape over the summer just in case he is called up by the British and Irish Lions squad.

The 26-year-old was a surprise omission from Warren Gatland's tour of Australia this summer, and was subsequently told by national head coach Stuart Lancaster to rest over the next few months.

However, the Harlequins flanker is keen to maintain his fitness levels in the hope that he still might be needed for the Lions tour.

"Everyone has sulks, mopes about and things like that but you then move on," Robshaw told Sky Sports News.

"We've got six weeks off for the summer now, so it is about enjoying yourself but still making sure you are fit in case you get that call.

"I think there are a lot of players on standby, I don't think they have gone out there and said exactly who is. It will depend on who gets injured and various scenarios as to who gets called up."

Robshaw is unlikely to be needed by his country this summer, with Lancaster opting to take an inexperienced squad to Argentina.
